Episode 32: Ask yourself these 6 questions TODAY so that NEXT year will be better

The windshield on your car is MUCH, MUCH bigger than your rear view mirror. That makes sense, right?

When you are driving down the road, your focus is on what’s ahead.

Over the last several years, I have become a much more defensive driver. Unfortunately, there are way too many people on their phones. So, I am always watching for someone swerving into my lane.

I am always looking ahead and it is VERY RARE for me to check my rearview mirror while I’m driving. This is EXACTLY what we do as private school leaders, ESPECIALLY at this time of year.

We are wrapping up a school year and it is all about what’s next? I say that out loud and to myself all the time. What’s next? What’s next?

We are always looking forward, always pushing ahead, moving ahead. Here’s the big problem with that. We usually don’t take the time to stop and reflect on the school year that we just completed.

Just like that HUGE windshield and that tiny rearview mirror, private school leaders often don’t take the time to STOP and reflect and then use that reflective practice to change our practice moving forward.

On today’s episode of the Private School Leader Podcast, we are going to discuss the 6 questions you can ask yourself today to make sure that next school year is better.
